Ultra Durable Canvas Waterproofing is the most durable canvas waterproofer for sale today for outdoor fabrics. It bests all competing waterproofing compounds in AATCC 127 Hydrostatic Pressure Method testing hands down. Also, it’s 347X more resistant to abrasion and wear over time.
The major differentiator is our proprietary blend. First, we start with an environmentally safe CnH2n+2 derivative and add a pine based sealant. Second, TYLOL is added to bond it to all synthetic and natural fibers. Finally, there are no solvents, thinners, PTFE or, PFAS, and it’s 100% concentrated waterproofer.
Never spray a stinky flammable mix onto fabric again, this non-toxic waterproofer comes with an included heater and is quickly rolled on with a common paint roller.

wHAT IS hAWK tOOLS Canvas wATERPROOFER?
Ultra Durable Canvas Waterproofer is the most durable canvas waterproofer available for canvas fabrics. This is largely due to the use of the environmentally friendly TYLOL (nano-bonding) agent that is proprietary to Hawk Tools. This completely environmentally friendly compound contains no harsh chemicals, thinning agents or PFAS. Manufacturers rely on Fabric Waterproofer to restore lost stain repellency and waterproofing performance. The core formulation is based on a CnH2n+2 derivative and is blended with a pine adhesive, Beeswax and TYLOL for industry leading protection from the ravages of UV exposure extreme weather conditions. This will repel stains and protects even delicate fabric from harmful mold and mildew.

Please see our application process article for a more complete list of tips and suitable materials. Ultra Durable Fabric Waterproofer is formulated for use on all natural and synthetic fabrics. Unlike silicone, acrylic, PTFE, or Zirconium Acitate based waterproofing compounds, Fabric Waterproofer fills in the gaps between course and fine fibers, creating a properly waterproof boundary. Additionally, it is perfectly suited for boat covers, bell tents, RV awnings and so much more.
What do I need for the Application Process?
A 12V power port and paint roller is all that is required.
Use only on newly, cleaned, dry fabrics. For best results, treat fabrics in warm weather, of at least 70 degrees or warmer. Let dry for 6-12 hours in a clean, dry environment before using or storing.
Directions:
Hawk Tools Ultra Durable Fabric Waterproofer is heat activated and comes with a 12V heater to accelerate the application process. Make sure to place can on non-heat sensitive surface.
1. Use Gloves , Safety Glasses, & paint roller.
2. Place can on cement or asphalt. (Non temperature sensitive)
3. Open can and Plug cord into a 30 Amp receptacle.
2. When liquid, dip roller into can and begin application to canvas.
use even strokes.
3. When Your fabric is evenly coated, leave it out to cure over night.
4. Only clean with a brush and water.
5. Touch up areas of high wear annually.
Note: Only apply if temperatures are above 65ยฐF. Do not expose to water until fully cured.

There are not many options for a proper canvas waterproofer available anymore. The homebrew mixes online are not durable and stray too far from the blends used back in the day (in the worst sort of way). This has zinc and pine pitch. So, it’s got the UV protection of modern waterproofer and classic ingredients that voyageurs relied on for life and limb. Make sure to support heritage products like this.

Product works very well. A heat gun helps with application. Make sure you apply on a warm day. Works better than Filson wax.

This is a super durable coating for canvas. It fills seams and is very flexible. Moisture never builds up inside, I don’t know how these guys do it.
